Our Favorite Things abut the 2023 RAM 1500

The Dodge RAM 1500 is yet another in a long line of high-quality, award-winning, durable, high-strength Dodge Trucks that have all but dominated the market. The Dodge RAM 1500 is part of a long line of impressive trucks, and Dodge is the only truck manufacturer whose trucks adhere to the strict performance requirements of the Society of Automotive Engineers J2807. While other truck manufacturers rush to catch up, the Dodge RAM 1500 is way ahead, setting a trend that cannot be beaten.

The six-speaker stereo system can be upgraded to a 10-speaker premium version to go along with Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB ports, and a 7-inch display panel. Dodge's next-generation Uconnect 5 multimedia system, as well as rear USB ports, instrument display, navigation, dual-zone climate control, rearview mirrors with auto-dimming, garage door opener, and single or dual-pane sunroofs, are also available.

All RAM 1500 trims come with a standard 3.6-liter PentaStar V-6 engine that is capable of producing 305 horsepower to go along with its 269 lb-ft of torque. The horsepower can be upgraded to 395 and 410 lb-ft of torque with the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine, which is capable of going from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 6.5 seconds.

Ram 1500 Tradesman HFE

The RAM 1500 Tradesman HFE (High Fuel Efficiency) keeps all the bells and whistles of the base version of the Tradesman but boasts improved mileage. The Tradesman HFE also includes cloth bucket sets for the front passenger and driver, and those seats can be manually adjusted.

RAM 1500 Big Horn

The Big Horns upgrades the wheels with 18-inch aluminum wheels and all-season tires. Also included are fold-down rear seats, front seat cushion storage locations, and stylish black and gray interiors. Additional features include chrome auto-dimming, heated mirrors, a leather steering wheel, and expanded audio controls.

Ram 1500 Rebel

The Rebel changes things up a bit with a black and cherry red interior and accents to go along with front and back Bilstein shocks for improved performance. The Rebel also includes a trailer hitch light and Dodge's Elocker locking differential to go along with a 3.92:1 axle ratio.

RAM 1500 Laramie

Next up is the Laramie. Its improvements or enhancements also include the next-generation Uconnect 5 navigation and multimedia center but with a reduced 8.4-inch touchscreen. It includes a heated and ventilated  12-way power driver, passenger seating, and a 10-speaker surround system with a subwoofer. 

RAM 1500 Limited Longhorn and Limited

The RAM 1500 limited Longhorn edition includes 20-inch aluminum wheels, leather seats, and a reclining second row to go along with LED headlamps. The RAM 1500 Limited has an active-level, four-corner air suspension that accommodates a luxurious leather interior, leather seating, and power-side steps.

Color Variations and Mileage

A large portion of the difference in trims comes down to the different color interiors and exteriors. These include white, flame red, velvet red, hydro blue pearl, bullet silver, crystal granite, diamond black, and ivory white. Mileage varies among the nine models from 12 mpg to 22 mpg in the city and 9.4 mpg to 16 mpg on the highway.
