Serving as the first-ever hybrid-electric open-air SUV, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe may be eco-friendly, but there are no compromises on quality, durability, and features. Let's take a closer look at the new 2022 Wrangler 4xe to see what it's all about.

Engine and Performance

 

Equipped with a 2.0L turbo engine and two electric motors, the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe offers 375 horsepower, which makes it the most powerful Jeep Wrangler since the Rubicon 392. Jeep reports that the 4xe will get up to 60 mph in six seconds.

Worried about the towing capacity? Thanks to 470 lb-ft of torque, the Wrangler 4xe continues to have a 3,500-pound towing capacity. The Sahara 4xe trim features electric blue tow hooks this year. Plus, four-wheel drive is standard, with some upgraded features on the Rubicon trim level for those who are serious about the off-roading experience.

Now, believe it or not, the 4xe offers a more stable ride than the traditional Wrangler due to the additional weight added by the electric batteries. It is also just as capable as fully gas-powered Wranglers, with the capability of taking to the trial-even in electric mode!

When it comes to fuel efficiency, the 2022 Wrangler 4xe is estimated to get 49 mpg! Keep in mind that a charging station at home will help you achieve this fuel efficiency better since that number is estimated on a full charge.

Technology Innovations

 

All trim levels of the 2022 Wrangle 4xe have an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display that offers smartphone connectivity and navigation options. It also has a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. A nine-speaker Alpine premium audio system is standard, with an overhead soundbar, amplifier, and subwoofer. A forward-facing off-road trail camera is available on the Rubicon and High Altitude trims.

Safety Features

The 2022 Wrangler 4xe comes equipped with many basic standard safety features, but if you want to up your game, it will be an additional cost.

Some available safety features include Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic High-Beam Headlamps, and Rear Park Assist System, although many of these are standard on the High Altitude trim.

Also available on the Wrangler 4xe is the Corning Gorilla Glass Windshield, which is designed to hold up longer and better when on the highway and trails. This windshield is far more resistant to chips and cracks from various forms of road debris.  

Interior and Comfort

 

Although the Wrangler 4xe does lose some cargo and cabin space due to the batteries, the difference isn't that noticeable. You can also add to the cargo space by putting down the rear seats. You can discreetly store items in the underfloor compartment, and you can secure your cargo items with the available rugged tie-down system.

The interior layout is driver-friendly with numerous controls available to enhance the driving and riding experience. The Wrangler 4xe offers the available Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control to maximize everyone's comfort. And, in case you're off on a messy adventure, the interior is equipped with weather-resistant carpet that can be removed, as well as one-way drain valves on the floor to make cleanup a breeze.

The seats are comfortable, even on longer rides, thanks to their ergonomic shape and a flatter bench in the back. Heated front seats, as well as a heated steering wheel, are available. The windows are square, and the pillars are slim, which work in conjunction with each other to reduce dangerous blind spots.
