Comparing the Wrangler and the Wrangler 4xe
1. Engine and Powertrain Â
While the 2024 Jeep Wrangler offers up to four different engine options, most trims focus on two high-performance powertrains with super smooth 8-speed or 6-speed automatic transmissions. The first is the 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar® engine. The second is the 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. For those interested in a little more than both these options, the Rubicon trim comes with a 6.4-liter V8 and can go from 0 to 60 in under 4.5 seconds.
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a plug-in hybrid PHEV with a powertrain that comes with a 2-liter 4-cylinder Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) turbocharged engine and two permanent-magnet electric motors which allows the Wrangler 4xe to go from 0 to 60 in 5.6 seconds.
2. Horsepower and Torque Â
The 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar® engine of the Jeep Wrangler generates 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque while the 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine provides an impressive 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the 6.4-liter V8 of the Rubicon trim beats them both with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
The Wrangler 4xe's PHEV powertrain generates a combined 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque with the 2-liter 4-cylinder DOHC engine portion of the PHEV powertrain responsible for 270 of the horsepower and 295 of the torque.
3. Mileage
In terms of mileage, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler with the 3.6-liter V6 has an EPA-estimated 19 MPG combined, the 2-liter 4-cylinder has an EPA-estimated 21 MPG combined, while the 6.4-liter V8 has an EPA-estimated 14 MPG combined.
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has a manufacturer's estimated combined with a manufacturer's estimated total driving range of 370 miles*. With this excellent performance and mileage, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe can drive 21 miles in all-electric mode*.
4. Towing

All two-door trims of the Jeep Wrangler have a minimum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. However, the Rubicon trim is the most powerful of all the 2024 Jeep Wranglers with its 5,000-pound towing capacity. This incredible towing capacity comes from Wrangler's heavy-duty Full-Float Dana® rear axle - which is standard on all Jeep Wrangler Rubicons.

5. Trims and Options
For the 2024 Jeep Wrangler, Jeep has kept its same core trims from the previous year. These include the Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X and Rubicon 392. The 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has fewer trims for 2024. These include the Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X, and High Altitude. Making the All-Important Decision
Ultimately, both the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler 4xe are ideal solutions for those who love to go off-roading or escape it all. Both models provide fantastic all-terrain performance and their interior features and amenities are almost identical across all trims. However, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe can be seen as more suited to environmentally friendly and cost-conscious Glockner of Ashland customers who want better overall mileage.
